Windwood Presbyterian Church offers a variety of opportunities for adults to grow in Christ. The primary objective of Adult Ministries is to provide Biblically-based class & group experiences that help adults grow in spiritual knowledge, maturity, and discipleship. Offerings include Adult Sunday School, Adult Small Groups, New Members Class, Foundation Classes, Pastor's Bible Study, workshops, seminars, special speakers, and lectures.
Goal 1: Initiate a program to help move people through the discipleship process (making disciples - maturing believers - multiplying ministries)
- Acquire/develop a multi-phase discipleship curriculum:
- 101: Connect (Membership)
- 201: Grow (Maturity)
- 301: Serve (SHAPE for Ministry)
- 401: Share (Missions)
- 501: Lead (Leadership)
- Determine class schedule (including phasing in or new classes) and relationship/alignment with current New Members Class
- Identify class leadership, communicate program, and implement
Goal 2: To birth at least one new Adult Christian Education Class per semester on Sunday mornings and/or Wednesday nights beginning in September 2006.
- Adult Ministries Council to coordinate and oversee course offerings, content and leadership
- New open group class possibilities include:
- community outreach bible studies (i.e., BSF, men’s bible study, etc.)
- topical studies (i.e., What Do Presbyterians Believe?, Women in Ministry, Living the Five Spiritual Disciplines, etc.)
- age/lifestage classes (i.e., marriage class, parenting class, etc.)
- Offer additional classes at 11:00 am Sundays; identify/secure additional classroom space at 9:30 am
- Identify and equip class leaders/teachers
- To help assimilate members into the body, develop a plan for communicating course offerings to the congregation, including an intentional connection to the New Members Class and Discipleship Curriculum (see Goal #1)
Goal 3: Develop a discipleship ministry of small groups where every member is connected in some type of small group, with a target of 100% participation.

Clarify and communicate small group terminology.

Determine the number, size, and type of small group currently active at Windwood.

Provide ongoing training and equipping for small group facilitators and coordinators.

Develop a plan to advertise and communicate Windwood’s small group ministry.

Develop a process/procedure for placing interested current and new members into small groups.

Develop a broad list of curriculum and study materials for existing and new small groups.
Goal 4: Implement a Biblical Leadership Development program for current/prospective leaders (such as elders, deacons, teachers, etc.).
- Session define leadership appointment/nomination requirements.
- Adult Ministries Council with other stakeholders plan and implement a leadership development curriculum for Windwood.
Goal 5: Develop a system for matching member gifts with ministry needs to help assimilate members, mature disciples, and grow the kingdom.

Session and Deacons to form a joint Ministry Placement Team that would identify member gifts and ministry needs, compile and manage an information database, and develop systems for matching and placing people in ministries and programs.

Work with existing councils and staff to ensure that members are serving out of their God-given passion and gifts.

Use Birkman results to assist in matching gifts to ministry needs
Goal 6: Continue to grow Children’s, Student, and Adult Ministries in line with Windwood’s vision, mission, and core values.
- Children’s Ministries Council, Student Ministries Council, and Adult Ministries Council examine alignment of ministries and programs with strategic plan.
- Adjust and focus programming to reflect vision.
Goal 7: Encourage cross-generational ministries that provide opportunities for all ages of the Windwood community to have fellowship and to mentor one another.

Inform congregation on curriculum for Adults, Students and Children’s Ministries

Share discipleship learning goals in order to encourage the discussion of the message within each family
