First Impressions is a coordinated ministry of Windwood Presbyterian Church. The purpose is to help guests in God's House to feel welcome and to become acquainted with all the ministry God is doing through His people here. From the first few minutes of their first visit until guests decide to become members of the church, First Impressions coordinates the ministries of information, greeting, ushering, the cafe volunteers, and the welcome center to make being a part of Windwood's worship and activities a simple process.
Ministry teams serve weekly, usually for either of the 9:30 or 11:00 weekend services shifts. The shift for the 9:30 service lasts from 9:00 - 9:35 and the shift for the 11:00 service lasts from 10:25-11:05. Below are descriptions of the ministry teams that currently make up First Impressions and ways that you can consider participating.
Greeter Team - This two person team greets guests at the front doors and side doors. They are truly the first impression the First Impressions teams make. If you can smile and open a door you are qualified to serve in this critical ministry position. While the skill set is simple the impact is immense.
Atrium Hosts Team - The two person team members provide personal attention to new guests, escorting families with young children to the children's center, answering questions, and orienting guests to our church.
Holy Grounds Cafe Team - This two person team helps create a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging connectivity and conversation over a cup of coffee.
Welcome Center Team - This two person team serves inside the welcome center at the desk. They distribute material to guests, help answer questions guests have, work with atrium hosts to help connect guests with information and people, work as a point of distribution for materials or information that needs to be communicated to the staff such as requests for CDs or DVDs of the worship services.
First Impressions is a great opportunity for both long-time members and new members alike to be able to serve God in a simple but powerful capacity. Come a few minutes early for your regularly attended worship service and you serve as a vital part of making God's ministry grow at Windwood!
