Care Ministries and Service Opportunities
— because God’s love knows no boundaries —
Memorial Gifts
We all know how precious are the memories we treasure over the years. Remembering enriches our life and the memory of a loved one.
Memorial Reception
The purpose of the Memorial Reception is to provide a Christian environment for fellowship following a funeral or memorial service. This group meets occasionally in the daytime as the need arises.
Columbarium
Our vision is to have vaults with recesses and a prayer garden with space for burial services.
Caring Ministry
Congregational Care is a function of the Deacons who are called to oversea and direct the vast resources of help within our Church. Deacons support and encourage members and friends by ministering, listening, supporting, and guiding with sensitivity and understanding.
Pastoral Care
The ministers of Windwood are always available for pastoral care and appreciate knowing as soon as possible whenever members, their relatives, or church friends may be ill, hospitalized, or otherwise in need. Please call the church office at 281-378-4040 or contact one of the ministers whenever ministerial attention is needed.
Blood Drives
The Blood Drive Ministry strives to provide Group Coverage each year for the Windwood Church family. The Ministry coordinates blood drives, educates the church regarding blood health matters, and spreads the word of blood needs to the community so that coverage can extend to others as well.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are individuals who have completed the nationally recognized 50-hour Stephen Ministry Christian Caregiver Training Program. They have been trained and commissioned by our church to assist our Pastors in giving pastoral care. As extenders of pastoral care they are committed to respecting the confidential nature of the caring relationship. Stephen Ministers provide distinctively Christ-centered one-on-one care to those in our congregation and community who are experiencing problems and crisis in their lives for as long as needed.
Christ's Hands and Feet
Caring for the needs of others is a way of showing God’s love for them. The proper motive for serving others is to love them as He has loved us. This ministry can be thought of as those simple acts of kindness and assistance to the members and friends of Windwood. With this ministry we are able to assist members and friends of Windwood during times of personal need by providing meals or transportation or even just a helping hand once in a while.
Prayer Group
The Prayer Group meets twice a month to pray for the needs of the congregation which have been submitted to the group and to the church. They ensure these prayer requests are placed in the Sunday Church bulletin, if the person sending in the need so desires; and they also pass them on to the Prayer Chain when appropriate.

Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is available anytime day or night for emergency situations.
Newborn Ministry
The Newborn Ministry celebrated the birth of a child by connecting with and coming along side the family of the newborn. The Ministry contacts the family within a few weeks of the birth, provides a gift bag, and determines other ways in which Windwood can provide assistance during this time of transition.
Knitting Ministry - meets 2nd Monday of every month: Judith Humphrey - 281-376-6408 or mjudith@swbell.net
This group of ladies knit prayer shawls that are given to church members and friends of church members who are hospitalized. The Prayer shawls and chemo caps are given to cancer patients at the Ronald McDonald House and MD Anderson with a wonderful note of encouragement and prayer. The ladies also knit children’s sweaters which are sent to Knit for Kids sponsored by Guideposts and are distributed to needy children around the world. Baby blankets are also knitted and given to the Newborn Ministry to be handed out in their Newborn Baskets.
